Shocking excuse for a remaster. It feels worse than playing the original, which in fact i’m actually refunding this and reinstalling the original.
They removed vibration on Trigger and summons which just makes it down right weird to play if you’ve ever played the original.
My main draw for this was the 3x speed due to drawing being a chore early game, but that again just feels wrong some how I can’t put my finger on it, I just didn’t like it.
My final straw was that using the steam controller it wouldn’t register a single renzokuken or normal attack trigger even though the button mapping was registering me pressing the button. Maybe something to do with the input lag which was apparent on menus.
Basically : If you already have the original, throw one of the user mod packs on the clean it up a bit and dont waste your money on this nostalgia grab. Final Fantasy 8 is the first one I played and beat and I loved it enough to play through and beat it at least 8 more times.
This is not going to be one of those times. After just about 2 hours, I can’t play it anymore. I’m already disgusted. This “remaster” sports only high resolution character models, nothing else. Nothing. Now while the new character models look great, the terribly off-putting part is that they look so out of place in the world. They didn’t even bother to update the character models on the NPCs you can’t interact with. Personally, I’d rather play the original on Steam, not the remastered version, so things don’t look so ridiculously out of place.
